About

One number a day, made in Bucharest.

Spentalot is a budget app that tells you one thing every morning: what’s safe to spend today. Here is who makes it, and why.

Who builds it

Bogdan builds Spentalot at Design a Lot SRL, a small company in Bucharest. The app and this site are in English and Romanian.

Why I built it

I wanted one place to keep track of my money and set budgets, for my personal spending and for my company. Spreadsheets did the job, but they were never pleasant to use. So I built Spentalot, and today I run both my personal and my company budgets in it.

What it does

You set your income and bills once and log what you spend in a few seconds. Every morning Spentalot works out how much is safe to spend per day until your next income lands, with the bills still due already taken out.

Money you move to a goal is kept apart from money you spent. Spent, saved and invested are three separate piles, so a good month looks like one.

It never asks for your bank login. You add entries yourself or import a CSV statement from BT, ING or Revolut. Your data lives on a server in the EU, and you can export it or delete your account at any time.

Spentalot is a web app you add to your Home Screen. It opens full-screen and works like an app, on iPhone and Android alike.

Why one number

Most money questions come up in the middle of a day, not at the end of a month: can I afford this today? A spreadsheet answers that after the fact. Spentalot answers it before you spend, with one number that already knows what is left and what is still to pay.

Not financial advice

Spentalot shows you your own numbers and simple projections based on them. Nothing in the app or on this blog is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and we are not licensed financial advisors.
