How much can I spend today?
Your balance still counts the rent that hasn’t gone out. Spentalot takes out what’s already promised, spreads the rest over the days left, and gives you one number for today.
How it’s worked out
Three steps, done for you.
-
Start from what’s left
Income that landed this month, minus everything that went out. Money moved to savings leaves this pot, but never counts as spent.
-
Take out what’s promised
Bills and planned spending due before your next income, or before month end when nothing else is coming in.
-
Spread it over the days
Divided by the days until then, today included. Salary on the 15th? The count stops on the 14th.

Questions
About the daily number
Does money I move to savings lower the number?
Yes: it’s no longer part of what’s left to spend this month. But it never counts as spent. Spentalot keeps Spent, Saved and Invested as three separate totals.
My salary comes in mid-month. Does it still work?
Yes. The number counts down to your next income, not to the end of the month: only the bills due before that day come off, and it’s divided by the days until then.
Can the number go below zero?
Yes, when what’s already promised is more than what’s left. The app says so plainly, and the morning check-in suggests a cheap day rather than a lecture.
What counts as a bill here?
Your recurring expenses (rent, utilities, subscriptions) and any one-off planned spending, due after today and before your next income. Once a bill is paid and logged, it’s part of what went out.
Tomorrow at 08:30, you’ll know.
Add your income and bills once. Your first number is waiting the next morning.
